Responsibilities The South Carolina Athletic Commission is a member of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.
You will serve as the Commission Executive for Athletics to plan and direct the program activities for the Commission, which licenses and permits Professional Wrestling, Professional Boxing, Amateur and Professional Mixed Martial Arts and Professional Kick Boxing.
You will schedule and maintain a calendar of events for the Commission.
You will serve as the Commission Representative at events, scheduling weigh-ins, directing inspectors, coordinating logistics, and ensuring compliance of the event based on applicable regulations and statutes.
You will supervise the initial and renewal applications of licensees and other permits and IDs, as appropriate.
You will be responsible for pre-event verifications including gathering and reviewing required documentation and confirming Commission requirements. You will plan, organize, and attend board meetings and hearings.
You will respond to questions and concerns from fighters, promoters, timekeepers, judges, referees, and other personnel prescribed by statute, as well as members of the public and legislators
You will perform a variety of other duties including, but not limited to, preparing reports and invoices, collecting fees and processing payments, monitoring legislation that affects the program, assisting with orders and meeting minutes, updating applicable systems, recommending program changes, ordering supplies, and updating and reviewing the Commission’s website.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and relevant program experience. A combination of education, relevant training, and experience may be considered in substitution for a bachelor’s degree upon approval by Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant program experience.
Ability to work flexible work hours.
Ability to work independently and with a high degree of discretion.
Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft computer programs and Adobe.
General accounting skills.
Ability to research and prepare reports, compile data and organize statistics. Knowledge of Combat Sports, Rules and Business Functions.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, particularly with technical terms with professional people.
Other Requirements
Statewide jurisdiction.
Must be able to work weekends, nights, and be able to travel overnight. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License and provide a 10-year MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines. Position works in both an office and field environment. Requires extended periods of driving, sitting, and standing. May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 50lbs. Additional Comments
