SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Law-Related Education Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the planning, execution and evaluation of law related education programs and volunteer outreach initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Law Related Education (LRE) Committee and various LRE Sub-Committees to accomplish committee goals and strategic plan. Drafting minutes for committees and subcommittees. Coordinates and supports the planning and delivery of law related education programs and events. Assists as a point of contact for educators and volunteers fostering strong, collaborative relationships. Promote the Courtroom Sketch Artist and Journalist competition for the High School Mock Trial program and recruits judges for scoring. Assists with developing and maintaining program metrics and reporting tools to evaluate effectiveness. Identifying and evaluating areas of improvement to ensure program success. Assist in delivering training and professional development for educators. Continually maintain teacher listserv and the SC Department of Education Superintendent’s group email with updates and deletions. Promote law related education with state agencies, educational organizations, and at educational conferences. Serve as a proofreader for competition handbook, coaches’ manual, marketing pieces, competition materials, and others as needed. Assists with volunteer recruitment, planning and implementation of LRE initiatives and Career Day Materials. Actively participate in LRE staff meetings on case brainstorming sessions, case contributions, and participate in case editing in group sessions as well as independently in preparation for case review sessions. Serve as on-site staff at regional and state competitions to include travel, set-up, registration of teams and judges, meal prep/breakdown, power matching teams, state closing assembly, and breakdown. This includes overtime and falls on multiple weekends
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Associates degree with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience. Bachelor’s Degree or higher may be advantageous but not required. Proficient in MS Office; skilled in creating and formatting professional documents. Proficient in Google Workspace, with strong emphasis on integration between Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. Skilled in managing data workflows across both platforms to ensure seamless collaboration and efficient data analysis. Highly organized, detail oriented, and collaborative team player. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with educators, volunteers and the legal community. Excellent customer service and follow through capabilities. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Flexible schedule to include working some weekends and evenings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience as a K-12 classroom teacher or teaching assistant, with a strong understanding of classroom dynamics
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift, carry and transport materials up to 40 pounds Capable of performing physically demanding tasks related to event set up and breakdown Willingness and ability to travel as needed several times per year.
