Qualifications Mid-level Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Pickleball Program Lead will be responsible for developing, organizing, and managing all aspects of the YMCA’s pickleball program alongside the Sports Director. This position requires a creative, solutions-oriented leader who can balance free play, lessons, leagues, tournaments, and youth programming while growing participation and engagement.
Essential Functions:
League & Tournament Development:
Design and implement structured pickleball leagues and tournaments for all skill levels, including scheduling, rules, registration, and marketing.
Youth Pickleball Initiatives:
Create and introduce youth-focused pickleball programming , including clinics, camps, and structured play opportunities.
Balancing Free Play & Structured Activities:
Develop a fair and accessible schedule that accommodates open play, lessons, leagues, and special events while maximizing court availability.
Instructor & Staff Hiring:
Identify, recruit, and onboard qualified pickleball instructors for lessons, clinics, and group training sessions.
Player Engagement & Growth:
Develop creative strategies to increase participation through outreach, social events, and community partnerships.
Facility & Equipment Management:
Ensure that courts, nets, and equipment are maintained, and manage any requests for improvements or updates.
Community & Member Relations:
Act as the main point of contact for player inquiries, feedback, and program improvements . Actively seek new clients and build relationships within the local Pickleball community. Create a positive and supportive training environment, encouraging clients to reach their full potential. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement. Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports). Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
