South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state’s public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational experiences, and strengthens communities, while working to create a stronger, more connected, and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.
JOB PURPOSE
This position will coordinate early learning and outreach activities for the agency. Primary duties include the development and implementation of programming to facilitate staff professional development among early learning educators, support classroom instruction, and foster family/community engagement across the state. This position will work with the early learning community to include SC First Steps, Head Start, and PBS Kids to coordinate activities, conduct training, and assess the impact of these activities on established goals. This position will coordinate Kids Club subscriber engagement. This position will also assist with coordinating the creation of interactive content specific to early learning and literacy. This position will facilitate agency field trips and student engagement that align with the SC College and Career Ready Standards.
JOB DUTIES
Fosters and maintains relationships with the First Steps, Head Start, PBS Kids and other early learning partners as appropriate. Identifies opportunities for cross-agency collaboration in support of the state’s early learning and literacy goals. Plans and implements new program initiatives through the conduct of needs assessments, research, networking and collaboration with the early learning community. Evaluates and assesses Pre-K-5 and after school learning site resources, and the impact on learning. Participates in all applicable management and station meetings. Facilitates field trips at SCETV for South Carolina students that align with the SC College and Career Ready Standards. Develops, implements, and conducts educator trainings specific to the early learning community that incorporate ETV and PBSKIDS content (e.g., sensory pathways, kinesthetic learning); identifies opportunities to use the curriculum that qualifies for DSS early learning certification. Attends and presents at various state education and institutional conferences and meetings. Evaluates and assesses training effectiveness and learning outcomes. Contributes to required state and federal reporting specific to early learning and literacy goals. Coordinates Kids Club subscriber activities, to include the dissemination of birthday messages each month, all packing and shipping logistics for quarterly Club pack mail-outs, and the planning and promotion of subscriber events. Works with ETV Education Division to coordinate the creation of interactive, standards based educational materials, and technology resources to support early learning and literacy goals established by the SC Department of Education, the Education Oversight Committee and/or other state partners. Other duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor’s degree and relevant program experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ in early education or afterschool environments.
