40/week Seeking a Passionate and Dynamic Major Gifts Officer to Drive Impactful Giving! SUMMARY The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors for Alive Hospice, as well as building relationships with prospects who have the capacity and affinity to donate to the organization. This position is an integral part of the Alive’s fundraising team, carrying out initiatives that support the hospice programs of care. Working closely with all development staff, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for development, implementation and management of major gifts and planned giving programs. This position participates at a high level in the annual planning and budgeting of fundraising activities each year and is an integral part of the development team. The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated team player, organized, and able to manage time effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare an annual plan, and corresponding timelines and budgets, for the major gifts and planned giving programs. Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift and planned giving prospects; Create, manage and expand a portfolio of donors and prospects to attain specific annual goals. Facilitate appropriate donor interaction with senior management and Board; coordinate and /or prepare all necessary materials, proposals, letters, reports and acknowledgment for cultivation and stewardship of major gifts. Provide effective stewardship for donors and prospects; participate in planning of donor stewardship events. Work with staff to ensure timely and accurate maintenance of all gifts, solicitation and donor information; Maintain a visible presence by attending key events. Participate in the creation of an annual case for support; Prepare periodic and annual reports to evaluate performance and outcomes of development activities. Provide other development support as required to help ensure program success. Participate in annual strategic planning and budgeting processes. Maintain all relevant prospect data on the fundraising database. Research and compile confidential statistical data for reports and studies. Receive donations (by telephone and in person). Identifies and researches potential donors with the capacity to give $5,000.00 or more, including new prospects and donors targeted for upgrade or renewal. 10. Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle including, but not limited to: Initiates contacts with potential individual donors. Develops appropriate cultivation strategies. Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure. Makes solicitations when appropriate. Maintains stewardship contacts with donors 11. In conjunction with Chief Advancement Officer and entire Advancement team, develop and implement a major and planned giving strategies, including projects, fundraising goals and activities associated with achieving the plan 12. Creates a record in Donor Relationships Management software on each donor prospect, outlining interests and background that would be helpful now and in the future for cultivating gifts. 13. Responsible for learning and utilizing technology made available by the agency to increase efficiency, communication and performance of duties. 14. Utilize donor relationship management software and donor research software. 15. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Donor Relationship Management software experience preferred. The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated team player, organized, and able to manage time effectively.
