Adaptive Programs Coordinator – Downtown

out of 5 stars 301 West 6th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402 Oversees, develops and implements the overall operation of the adaptive programs at the Downtown branch. Provides direct supervision of a group of participants within programs. Provides a quality experience to participants and guardians focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
RESPONSIBILITES
Coordinates current adaptive programs and helps develop future programming; such as, Veterans baseball league (Thursday evenings) and new adaptive sports leagues on the multi purpose field. Manages and operates audio and visual aspects for video scoreboard. Coordinates volunteers and Miracle League buddies for programs on and off site. Assists program director with recruitment of participants and volunteers. Process adaptive program registrations and assist with program communication. Supervises and engages a group of participants in adaptive programming while adhering to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. Attends staff meetings and training. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Maintains positive relations with participants, guardians, and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Assists program director in the development of the Adaptive Basketball Clinic as it transitions to a Miracle League basketball program. Assists program director with Miracle League (Saturday), adult Miracle League (Friday), and All Star games. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Previous experience working with children required. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, lifting (could be up to 50 pounds). CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date. New Employee Orientation required within first week of hire.
