POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the V/P of Outreach the Reach and Rise Director is responsible for the oversight and ongoing development and implementation of the Y’s National Reach and Rise Mentoring Program at the YMCA of East Tennessee. The Reach and Rise Director is a Mental Health Professional and will establish the R&R Program Model by recruiting, training, and matching volunteers, as well as being responsible for managing risk. Will ensure uniformity of training curriculum, data collection, outcome objectives, and ongoing clinical support. Will comply with all OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention) grant requirements. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Effectively manages and ensures compliance with all aspects of active grants and partnership agreements with the Y USA, OJJDP, and YMCA of San Francisco. Ensure all program goals and objectives are met for association and clearly document outcomes and data per program protocols. Provide accurate, timely completion and submission of all mentor/mentee related records and documents. Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement the mentee growth plans, utilizing various intervention methods and techniques. Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting. Work with all Y partners to ensure positive and consistent relationship. As needed, attend regular meetings with volunteers, families, and with staff from schools and/or community based organizations. Provide input as to how the mentoring program can better reflect the cultural diversity of the children and families in the geographical area. Participates in safety, risk management and quality improvement activities and conducts program evaluation and applied research to assure safe and effective services. Attend all required training as required by the YMCA of the USA, OJJDP, and the YMCA of San Francisco. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will supervise Interns and Volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. Must be able to pass background check to include DOJ finger printing (recheck every 2 years). Must be able to travel to all program activity sites. Proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling. Experience working with the target population as well as implementing and delivering a program by following specific program model, curriculum and guidelines. Supervisory experience preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity and experience working in or with community-based agencies and working in a “practitioner-research” collaborative study. Ability to lead and motivate others. Needs to have initiative, be creative and flexible. Must be able to respond to safety and emergency situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. Conflict resolution skills and ability to work independently and produce results with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be available to work some nights and weekends.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, and stand for an extended period of time. The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups children and adults as well as employees of the organization.
