Outdoor Program Coordinator Two Roads Academy 308 Blakely Road, Colchester, VT 05446 Overview Two Roads Academy is an alternative school with a focus on individualized hands-on learning with an emphasis on outdoor education, personalized learning and the use of Acceptance and Commitment Training. The Outdoor Program Coordinator will be part of a collaborative team working with staff and students to increase social, emotional, and academic skills in the school and primarily community settings. This position requires strong relationship management skills, a passion for program development, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 1 or more years of working directly with children/adolescents/youth in a therapeutic and academic setting. Degree in Outdoor Education or Physical Education preferred. Proficient in crisis management Willing and excited to develop relationships with students and staff in and outside of the school building. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of outdoor safety procedures, have certifications documenting said skills and or willingness to attend training to obtain these skills such as Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. Be comfortable with training and supervising 10+ staff primarily in an off campus setting Possession of a valid driver’s license, excellent driving record and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle are required. Must be able to pass a background check and submit fingerprints to the local sheriff’s office. Ability to lift and move 50 lbs. Ability to be trained in emergency safety techniques. Must be willing and able to show flexibility with adapting and modifying Outdoor activities based on student development, ability, and skill level. Familiarity with state Physical Education standards and proficiency grading. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leading the Outdoor Program two afternoons a week. Teaching nature studies, experiential learning, team building, physical education and more. Leading adventure activities for the full day every Friday including: Sailing, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, fishing, disc golf, skiing/snowboarding, trail building, and more. Creating all the corresponding partnerships for the above activities or maintaining existing relationships. Soliciting donations, collecting, purchasing, and maintaining outdoor gear including everything the students need to be fully prepared for the outdoors. Training staff during multiple professional development days on Outdoor Program and attending all professional development meetings Collect data on and measure: student attendance, student participation and engagement and student progress related to PE standards. Utilize the designated platform to record grades, award credit and to generate quarterly reports. Complete Quarterly reports – provide information per data collection, assessment and progress measures. Collaborate with leadership and attends all leadership meeting Other duties as assigned
