We will want you to show both that you understand the range of methodologies and tools available to you and how you use your experience to decide which are appropriate to getting the job done. You will have responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of either a single project or a small portfolio of project initiatives, leading a mixed team of civil servants, contractors, and service providers. Projects will encompass all areas of the business including people, finance, operations, technology and digital. You will relish being able to take ownership of varied and complex areas of work and getting the right balance of pace and control to deliver successful outcomes. The candidates we are looking for will show personal commitment to innovation and making a tangible difference to shaping delivery. You will be a key part of our agency Project Delivery Community of Practice so you will have the opportunity to develop your strategic leadership skills and coach and support colleagues, alongside driving day-to-day delivery. You will report directly to an Assistant Director of Transformation who in turn reports to the Change and Technology Services Director who is a key member of the agency’s executive leadership team. These roles equate to “Project Manager 3” on the Project Delivery Capability Framework. Responsibilities Project delivery requires us to be flexible and adaptable, but these core deliverables will be expected in most of our Senior Project Manager roles: Delivery day to day management of your projects and project teams appropriate selection and application of project delivery tools and methodologies including the management of risks and issues clear, concise, accurate progress reporting including timely escalation of risks and issues where appropriate support SROs to deliver tangible outcomes and realise business benefits identify resource/skill requirements required for delivery ensure governance controls are understood and implemented take the lead in specific negotiations with suppliers, partners and other agencies Leadership provide visible leadership to your project delivery teams and across the wider Project Delivery profession coach and develop your teams, helping to create a pipeline of project delivery talent for the agency act as a role model displaying leadership behaviours in accordance with our organisation’s ethos create and collapse teams to deliver specific outcomes ensuring clear aims, objectives and deliverables are defined from the outset and monitored throughout champion and support the Community of Practise for the agency’s change community act independently and with senior colleagues in representing the Agency with stakeholders on project matters Financial authority manage delegated financial authority for project budgets control expenditure and instigate corrective actions where necessary ensure all spend is properly governed and delivers value for money to the taxpayer Stakeholder relations identification, consultation and effective communications and engagement with all stakeholders use influencing and persuasion skills as required with internal and external stakeholders
