Project Delivery (PD) in DBT Almost all government policy is delivered through projects or programmes. Thousands are carried out each year to improve the UK’s infrastructure, transform public services, safeguard national security and boost international trade. At the heart of our Project Delivery and Change Directorate, we have established an internal pool of experienced project delivery and change professionals who we are deploying to deliver business critical projects. Project Delivery Flexible Resource Pool (FRP) This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented candidate with a strong interest and experience of working in the Project Delivery profession, to become part of DBT’s FRP. The FRP is a group of skilled Project Delivery (PD) and Change Professionals who are assigned to business-critical projects for between 3-12 months. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to build their Project delivery experience/portfolio by working on a variety of high-profile projects, as well as, share their experiences and best practices across the department supporting development of the departments PD maturity levels.

The FRP aims to:

Provide PD and Change support to priority programmes within DBT. Ensure DBT has the right capability in-house to deliver key projects, reduce recruitment issues and reliance on contingent labour. Provide PD&C Professionals better access to career development and progression. The Offer The Pool will offer successful applicants’ exposure to a range of challenging projects across DBT to build capability, experience and technical skills. We will also provide access to a range of informal professional career development opportunities. Role responsibilities The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.

Responsibilities may include:

Planning and scheduling

  • Ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling. Business Case
  • Contribute towards the project business case and identification of benefits. Monitoring and reporting
  • Maintaining project controls and produce project reports, updating the project manager on a regular basis. Admin
  • Oversee project tasks ensuring they are complete and comply with H&S, DDA, Business Continuity and planning requirements. Resources
  • Lead the team in the effective deployment of resources. Stakeholder
  • Manage engagement for internal and external stakeholders. Act as the focal point for stakeholders ensuring their requirements are met. Financial control
  • Manage project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets. Ensure an accurate asset register for the project. Risks and issues
  • Manage essential RAID areas, working with risk managers updating risk log and managing project risks and issues. Assurance
