Job Description
Responsibilities Manage warehouse automation projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope. Pursue new business opportunities in the warehouse automation sector and build strong relationships with potential clients. Utilize knowledge of AGVs, AS/RS, and racking solutions to design and implement efficient warehouse automation systems. Prepare accurate project estimates, including cost analysis and budgeting, to ensure financial viability and profitability. Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals and deliverables. Monitor project progress and performance, implementing quality control measures to ensure high standards are maintained. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Support the development of plans for vendor engagement, contract execution, and third-party deliverable tracking. Oversee the definition of physical infrastructure, system throughput requirements, and technical specifications in collaboration with SMEs. Provide consistent status updates and program dashboards to stakeholders, executives, and steering committees. Essential Skills Minimum of 8 years of experience managing large-scale projects, with at least 5 years in warehouse automation or industrial systems deployment. Deep understanding of warehouse technologies, including material handling systems (conveyors, AMRs/AGVs), robotics, and WMS/WCS platforms. Strong experience in project governance, risk management, and vendor coordination within a fast-paced logistics or fulfillment environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to interface with both technical teams and senior leadership. Experience leading warehouse automation projects in a greenfield or brownfield setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Electrical engineering, controls systems, mechanical engineering skills. Familiarity with the warehouse automation industry. Work Environment The work environment for this position will be split between working from home, in the office, and on job sites. While it’s preferred for candidates to live near Birmingham or Greenville offices, remote work is possible for the right candidate. This role offers the ability to create your own department and become a foundational part of the operation, with lots of autonomy and the ability to run your own business.
