ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Wethersfield, CT office is looking for a versatile Project Manager to join our growing Transportation, Planning and Operations team. Responsibilities Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects.
Prepare written planning documents including traffic-safety studies, road safety assessments, transportation planning and scoping documents.
Develop safety solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilities.
Assess countermeasure recommendations using traffic engineering and operational analysis tools.
Document and communicate findings from field observations and data collection with clients and public stakeholders.
Support safety projects in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and throughout England. Skills and Attributes Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering looking to apply these skills to identify innovative solutions.
Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design.
Skilled in industry-standard engineering design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, traffic simulation).
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented. Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering required. (a master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
8-11 years of progressive experience in traffic operations, planning, or safety engineering.
PE required
Experience with safety planning and safety data preferred
Experience with traffic capacity analysis software (Synchro, HCS) required
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation required and GIS experience a plus We are VHB!
