Permitting Project Manager Safeguard North Miami Beach, FL 33160 As a Project Manager (Permitting Specialist), you’ll be the key person guiding clients through the city permitting process from start to finish. You’ll work closely with City Managers to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.
Requirements:
Experience:
2+ years of experience with construction permitting. You must have experience of actually completing the permit process yourself with various types of construction projects.
Transportation:
Valid driver’s license with a clean record. Own reliable transportation (not shared).
Computer Skills:
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Sheets.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Construction Knowledge:
Ability to understand basic construction concepts.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills. People-oriented, enjoys interacting with people and teamwork. Adaptable and flexible, comfortable with changing priorities. Autonomous, dependable, and takes ownership of tasks. High stress tolerance and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
What You’ll Do:
Project Management:
Understand all aspects of projects and determine required permits (especially major permits). Act as the main point of contact for clients, keeping them informed and at ease. Work closely with City Managers to ensure project success.
Record Keeping:
Keep city records and the company’s tracking system (Zoho CRM) updated with project notes, submittal information, and statuses.
Permit Applications:
Prepare complete permit application packages for building departments and government agencies. Submit, review, and fill out permit applications and supporting documents. Occasionally deliver applications to government offices.
Document Management:
Request, review, and ensure accuracy of construction documents from clients, property owners, designers, and contractors. Prepare plans and permits for delivery. Occasionally pick up and deliver documents to clients.
Scheduling and Inspections:
Schedule inspections, obtain inspection routes, and inform clients. Attend inspections as needed.
Problem Solving:
Ensure project comments are valid and coordinate corrections with clients, designers, and contractors. Handle high-pressure situations and maintain a high level of responsibility.
Teamwork and Communication:
Give clear instructions to the delivery team and ensure accurate tracking system updates. Create daily tasks for the delivery team. Assist City Managers with tasks. Meet with city reviewers to discuss projects. Arrange meetings between clients and city officials. Communicate with city clerks and officials.
Project Completion:
Ensure all necessary county, state, and other approvals are obtained. Work with accounting to close project files and ensure accurate billing. Plan daily work.
