KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates all activities for an Emerging Infections Program (EIP) epidemiology surveillance project(s) or special studies within the School of Medicine that has a mid-level complexity in the EIP catalog of projects. Responsible for ensuring appropriate data acquisition, management, epidemiologic analysis, and transmission to CDC of project data using SAS, R, REDCap, SendSS, Access, etc. Assigns job duties and mentors project staff and supervises staff as applicable. Analyzes data and produces data, reports, and presentations. Reviews laboratory audits, ensures accurate case ascertainment, and reviews medical records. Evaluates data collection, quality, and management techniques. Communicates with project partners including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia Department of Public Health, laboratories, infection prevention, and medical providers. Provides input on all protocols, forms, instructions, and standard operating procedures. Provides data and status updates to investigators, regulatory bodies, grants and contracts. Complies with all ethical guidelines for scientific and human subjects’ research. Independently coordinates project(s) that have mid grade caseload/complexity in the EIP matrix. Independently coordinates project(s) that have high grade caseload/complexity in the EIP matrix. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Public Health or related field from an accredited school. Epidemiology specialty preferred OR Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the program with four or more years of direct experience conducting infectious disease surveillance and epidemiologic analyses, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. EIP experience is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MPH/MSPH. Project Coordination preferred. Supervisory skills preferred. Epidemiology degree/experience preferred. Medical record abstraction experience preferred. Data management preferred. SAS experience preferred. REDCap experience preferred. EIP experience desirable.

NOTE:

This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
