Role:

The Cost Analyst I plays a key role in supporting this transformation by providing accurate and timely cost analysis that ensures project efficiency and financial integrity across our global energy, chemicals, and resources projects. This position supports project teams by helping to forecast, monitor, and report on cost and resource data throughout the lifecycle of a project. Working as part of an inclusive and collaborative team, the Cost Analyst I contributes to our purpose of delivering a more sustainable world by ensuring transparency and insight into cost performance – helping our customers make informed decisions and maintain asset viability.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain detailed project cost reports, including man-hour and expenditure tracking, to help identify trends and support accurate cost forecasting. Collaborate closely with project controls, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment on budget expectations, progress measurement, and reporting requirements. Assist with the development and review of project estimates related to scope changes, extra work orders, and contractual amendments. Participate in regular project meetings, providing insight and data to support cost performance discussions and risk mitigation efforts. Make periodic visits to project sites to verify physical progress, assess cost control measures, and validate reporting accuracy. Contribute to continual improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance cost control processes, tools, and systems. Work under general supervision with growing autonomy, progressively applying experience and analytical skills to support the delivery of complex, data-centric solutions. May provide guidance to junior staff in the cost control discipline. Qualifications /
Skill Set:
A university degree or equivalent in engineering, business, finance, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant experience in project controls or cost analysis may be considered in lieu of formal education. Demonstrated experience (typically three years or more) in cost analysis, project controls, or financial tracking within the energy, chemicals, or resources industries. Foundational knowledge of project cost control practices, budget forecasting, and cost reporting methodologies. Proficiency with cost control systems and tools (such as Excel, Primavera, SAP, EcoSys, or similar project management software). Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and the ability to draw insights from complex data sets. Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical and financial concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders. A collaborative approach with the ability to work cross-functionally in a global and culturally diverse organization.
