As a Bridge Design Project Manager , you will join our Transportatio n team in our Westwood or Woburn or Worchester or Westfield, MA office, where you will lead transformative bridge projects that improve safety and connectivity across Massachusetts. Our Bridge Team and Projects At Tighe & Bond, our bridge engineering team brings decades of experience in delivering innovative, resilient, and community-focused infrastructure across the Northeast. Specializing in the design, permitting, and construction support of a wide range of bridge projects—including vehicular bridges, pedestrian crossings, culverts, and complex structural rehabilitations—we collaborate closely with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients to meet evolving transportation and environmental needs. What You’ll Be Doing As a Bridge Design Project Manager , you’ll lead impactful transportation projects that improve public safety, mobility, and resilience. You’ll work in a collaborative environment that supports your leadership development and offers opportunities to mentor others while making a tangible difference in Massachusetts communities. Lead the planning, design, and delivery of bridge replacement, rehabilitation, and preservation projects in accordance with MassDOT Bridge Manual and

AASHTO LRFD.

Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, QA/QC processes, and team coordination. Serve as the primary client contact for MassDOT, municipalities, and stakeholders. Oversee and review structural calculations, reports, specifications, and plans. Guide project teams in load rating, NBIS inspections, and risk mitigation strategies. Facilitate coordination between disciplines including roadway, geotechnical, and hydraulics. Ensure compliance with Massachusetts’ environmental and permitting requirements. Participate in proposal writing, fee development, and client interviews. Mentor junior staff and support career development within the structural team. What you’ll need Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Licensed PE in Massachusetts – required. 10+ years of experience in bridge design, project delivery, and client management. Expert knowledge of MassDOT Bridge Manual, AASHTO LRFD, and permitting standards. Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., MIDAS, STAAD, LARSA) and CAD tools (e.g., MicroStation). Strong communication, leadership, and business development skills. Preferred Requirements Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (optional) Experience with municipal bridge programs, small-span structures, and emergency repairs. NBI inspection experience and/or FHWA compliance procedures (optional) Active in ASCE, BSCES, or SEI.
