Lead Architectural Design Project Manager The Lead Architectural Design Project Manager plays a critical role in the successful execution of architectural projects from inception through completion. Working closely with the Architectural Design Manager, this individual ensures that projects are carried out with clarity, precision, and full alignment with the company’s values, design standards, and client expectations. This role involves leading project management efforts for select clients, overseeing assignments across the design team based on new sales and ongoing workload, and acting as an ambassador of the firm’s architectural excellence within the broader design and construction community. A thoughtful communicator and methodical organizer, this person bridges creative vision with technical execution while nurturing professional growth—both their own and that of others.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Execution Serve as the lead point of contact for assigned architectural projects, coordinating with clients, consultants, internal teams, and construction staff.
Manage all phases of project development, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
Maintain high standards for drawing quality, detailing, code compliance, and project documentation. Team Coordination & Assignment Oversight Monitor incoming project leads and design backlog to help prioritize, assign, and balance work across the architectural design team.
Collaborate with the Design Manager and Sales/Estimating team to evaluate project scope, schedule, and team fit.
Support onboarding and mentoring of junior design staff and emerging professionals. Client Engagement & Communication Participate in client meetings and presentations with empathy, professionalism, and a solutions-focused mindset.
Help manage sophisticated and often first-time clients through a clear, calm, and educational design process.
Assist in setting and maintaining realistic timelines, budgets, and expectations for each project.
Strategic Growth & Representation
Contribute to the firm’s visibility within the regional design and construction community. Learning & Professional Development Commit to continuous improvement in architectural systems, construction knowledge, sustainability practices, and client communication.
Stay informed about evolving design technologies, material innovations, and permitting/code changes relevant to the firm’s work.

Support the integration of architecture with construction and millwork by aligning drawings and documents with real-world execution.
Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architecture or related field required; on licensure track preferred, 5+ years of professional experience in architectural project management, ideally in residential or boutique commercial work. Deep understanding of the full design process and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and project management platforms. Passion for design excellence and integration with construction methodology.
