Position Characteristics of Work:

The Economic Development Specialist II will serve as the Executive Projects Manager for the Executive Office within Visit Mississippi. This position will be a key team member to the executive team at Visit Mississippi, leading and executing high-priority, non-routine initiatives that advance the agency’s mission to promote tourism throughout the state. This role requires exceptional project management, analytical, and communication skills with a proven ability to drive cross-functional projects from conception to completion often in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This is a state-service position. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and execute special projects and key initiatives directly aligned with Visit Mississippi’s strategic objectives and executive priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with the executive team and senior management to identify project goals, define deliverables, and set clear milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (marketing, operations, finance, IT, and external partners) to ensure seamless project execution and stakeholder alignment.
  • Prepare and administer proposals, contracts, grants, and agreements related to specific programs or projects ensuring compliance with state policies and agency goals.
  • Monitor and report on project progress providing regular updates and recommendations to the executive team and other stakeholders.
  • Resolve issues proactively to keep projects on track.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and impact evaluations to inform project direction and measure outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with agency divisions, tourism industry partners, legislators, and public officials as needed for project success.
  • Support the executive team in preparing reports, presentations, and communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to budget, timeline, and quality standards, and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency. What you’ll need to be Successful
