About the Position
MDWFP Is recruiting a Project Manager II,. The incumbent will serve as the project management coordinator responsible for the statewide development, implementation, and oversight of volunteer initiatives across the Mississippi State Parks system. This position plays a critical role in building a consistent, impactful, and sustainable volunteer framework that enhances park operations, supports staff, and deepens community involvement. The role provides leadership for all volunteer-related efforts, including training, placement, recognition, and evaluation. This position would also be responsible for developing policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across volunteer engagement statewide. These initiatives are on a defined timeline each year, with set start and end dates tied to peak park activity.
What you’ll need to be Successful
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with the public, management, and other staff. A sense of workflow management, a willingness to work as a team, and excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills. Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Detail oriented. Professional in communicating business plans. Analytical and creative thinking. An exceptional work ethic that includes integrity, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience.

Experience in planning, organizing, and prioritizing workloads and deadlines. Experience in outdoor recreation preferred.
