Position Overview The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) plays a vital on-site leadership role for Alliant Construction’s federal construction projects. The SSHO is responsible for implementing and managing the safety and health program in accordance with

USACE EM 385-1-1 , OSHA 29 CFR 1926

, and contract-specific safety requirements. The successful candidate will ensure that all construction activities are executed safely and in compliance with federal and company standards while maintaining a proactive safety culture on the job site. Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of safety experience on federal construction projects within the last 10 years. 40-hour

EM 385-1-1

training-based safety course per

ASSP Z490.1

(current within 5 years). OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification. CPR/First Aid/AED certification (current). Working knowledge of USACE and NAVFAC safety protocols . Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of a construction team. Experience completing safety reports and documentation to federal standards. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and enforce the Site-Specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) . Conduct daily site safety inspections , toolbox talks, and weekly safety meetings to identify and eliminate jobsite hazards. Monitor construction activities such as excavation, fall protection, electrical work, scaffolding, crane operations, and heavy equipment usage for compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters with government personnel and subcontractors. Conduct new worker orientations and safety training to ensure all team members understand site safety requirements and procedures. Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation , including inspection logs, incident reports, training records, and daily safety reports. Lead or assist with incident investigations , root cause analysis, and the development of corrective/preventive actions. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcement of all safety policies across the job site. Participate in coordination and progress meetings to provide regular safety updates and ensure alignment with project execution plans

Preferred Qualifications:
CHST , STS-C

, or CSP certification. Prior experience on

USACE , NAVFAC

, or other federal construction projects. Familiarity with RMS 3.0 or similar project management systems used on federal contracts. Background in vertical and horizontal construction, including sitework, utilities, and structural components.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, climb, and navigate an active construction site for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
