Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.

This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Corning OFC is seeking a results-driven, experienced Capital Projects Engineering Manager to lead and influence multidisciplinary project teams across budget, scope, design, scheduling, and factory floor execution.

What You’ll Do:

Champion a culture of safety across all project activities, ensuring compliance with Corning’s safety standards.
Lead or support major capital projects in cable and fiber capacity expansion and technology implementation.
Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, author appropriation requests, and oversee purchasing and change management processes.
Define project scope, secure resource commitments, and recruit internal and external talent.
Facilitate strategic decisions using structured rational processes for vendor selection and design approvals.
Supervise cross-functional project teams, resolve conflicts, and provide directional leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Deliver high-impact presentations and written reports to mid-level and senior leadership, articulating strategy, progress, and resource needs.

What You Bring:

BS or MS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Project Engineering – other disciplines will be considered if experienced in project management in a manufacturing environment. OR a combination of a technical degree (design, electrical, mechanical, chemical, industrial) and additional relevant project management and manufacturing equipment experience.
5+ years managing complex projects in the implementation of new or migration of manufacturing process equipment and/or automated systems. Proven experience leading projects within a highly matrixed organization. Demonstrated ability to independently manage project execution from inception to delivery. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across varying levels of an organization. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Have:

Manufacturing experience – can be in development, engineering, or operations.
Project Management Certification. (e.g. PMP – Project Management Professional)
Technical or Manufacturing leadership experience.
Manufacturing equipment design, development, or programming experience.

Work Schedule:

Core hours M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexibility to meet critical project deadlines. Some weekends required.
