Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prospecting:
Support Director of Development in creating an internal business case to explore new markets and drive new siting campaigns. Includes identifying merchant and commercial opportunities, forecasting revenue streams, and identifying regulatory processes and rules that could support solar and storage project development

Land Acquisition:
Coordinate with internal land acquisition team, contracted land managers, and personally conduct land acquisition duties including identifying prospect sites, researching land ownership, contacting landowners, running desktop site diligence, and preparing and executing necessary paperwork

Electrical Interconnection:
Coordinate with Stratas electrical engineering and transmission teams and consultants to work with utilities and ISOs to file interconnection applications, drive electrical interconnection studies, and advance multiple projects through the process towards achieving signed interconnection agreements

Permitting:
Coordinate with Stratas Permitting team to research all required permits for selected sites, coordinate with consultants and attorneys to prepare, review and submit permit applications and other filings, and represent Strata at permitting hearings, including providing expert witness testimonies when necessary

County and Local Affairs:
Build positive stakeholder relationships with state and county officials, local residents, and industry groups to bolster support for project permitting efforts

Origination:
Support the Origination Teams efforts to secure project offtake, including preparing and submitting bids for RFP/RFI, supporting offtake contract negotiations, and educating customers on solar and storage and how Strata projects would benefit the customer

Project Management:
Manage project budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and cost control duties across projects including creating and presenting project scopes, schedules, and budget

Internal Coordination:
Interface with Development Engineering, Legal, Policy, Project Finance, EPC, and executive team members to accurately define and mitigate project risks to keep projects on track and on budget
- Frequent travel to meet with landowners, key stakeholders, local officials and as needed for project development and company meetings.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelors Degree or higher in business, urban planning, environmental, engineering, or finance fields; masters degree preferred
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in renewable project development
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the policy, regulatory and competitive dynamics that contribute to project profitability and viability for Solar and Storage projects
- Strong project management skills and ability to work with limited supervision
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and accountability
- Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Superior preparation, presentation, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of solar and energy storage technology, EPC/OandM/offtake contracts, electrical interconnection, and project development in North America
- Proficiency in using MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- A valid driving license
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.
