There is an exciting opportunity to join the invasive marine species team within Agriculture Victoria. In this role you will work across government, industry and the community within Victoria and nationally to manage marine biosecurity risks. Critical to this role will be an ability to identify, analyse and the latest relevant scientific knowledge to the management of invasive marine species, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A background in marine biology, ecology or invasive species management will be well regarded.
The successful applicant will work in a dynamic and supportive team to protect our marine environment and industries from invasive marine species. You will also have the highly rewarding opportunity to work across various biosecurity responses such as emergency animal diseases, plant pests and natural disasters.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in marine biology, ecology, natural resource management, or a relevant scientific discipline.
Experience in conducting research projects in the fields of marine biology, ecology, or invasive species management.
Broad understanding of stakeholder issues relevant to the marine environment.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Attwood (flexibility may be available) with hybrid work arrangements available.
