INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT POSITION PURPOSE
The Project Director is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the MSAP (Magnet Schools Assistance Program). The Project Director is charged with providing leadership, fiscal management, monitoring recruitment and selection processes, school-level program implementation, and training for the MSAP in seven high-need target schools within Beaufort County School District to improve student achievement and socioeconomic diversity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide overall direction and guidance to project staff. Serve as the key liaison with the US Department of Education. Manage implementation of the magnet rollout plan. Ensure all planning decisions are well-documented to achieve goal of reducing racial and socioeconomic isolation. Identify students and educators with special needs in MSAP schools to ensure access to appropriate resources. Ensure grant funded personnel’s time is spent on activities outlined in the proposal. Assess teacher development needs in collaboration with the Magnet Advisory Teams. Develop and schedule professional development plan in collaboration with MSAP team. Attend Management Team, School Based meetings, and Magnet Advisory Team meetings. Work with the Management Team to create a sustainability plan beyond federal funding. Manage all fiscal aspects of the project with support from the Chief Instructional and Financial offices to ensure project funds are spent appropriately. Secure project records and file necessary reports with the US Department of Education. Monitor activities to ensure they are continually focused on promoting desegregation. Oversee the marketing, recruitment, and student selection process in collaboration with staff. Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to develop a Family Engagement Plan. Assist principals with school-level MSAP project implementation. Work with the Director of Transportation to deliver bus services to magnet students. Ensure activities are implemented effectively and on time, based on the management plan. Maintain and develop community partnerships to maximize implementation. Collaborate with partners to ensure adequate teacher training and certification. Help identify relevant opportunities for students and teachers for theme-related, industry-specific experiences. Develop summer school programs in support of the grant proposal. Maintain a cohesive work environment. Build up grant resiliency and sustainability Conduct community outreach. Coordinate annual field trips for prospective students to visit MSAP schools to generate interest and recruitment. Keep data on the number of inquiries that each MSAP cluster receives plus the number of outreach activities and points of contact for students and families. Work with external evaluators to collect and analyze data. Develop recommendations to the Management Team for project improvements.
PERFORMANCE EFFECTIVENESS CRITERIA
In addition to the employee being responsible for each of the performance responsibilities listed herein, periodic and special reports to the Board and other entities will be provided regarding the impact of this position with respect to progress toward annually established District and Divisional goals and objectives for, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas: 1) Student Performance, 2) Customer Service, 3) Fiscal Accountability and Responsibility, 4) Process Efficiencies and Improvements, and 5) Employee Learning and Growth.

Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District’s Mission Statement. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in School Administration or related field. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications. Able to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with a wide variety of people. Able to conduct and analyze educational research.
EXPERIENCE
: At least five – years of experience implementing large-scale school reform and improvement projects with experience in school choice or theme-based programs, desegregation, teaching diverse student populations, fiscal monitoring, curriculum development, PD, collaborating with community partners, and sustainability plan
