Position Summary:
We are actively seeking a Project Manager with strong, recent automotive manufacturing experience , specifically within Body in White (BIW) and General Assembly operations. This is a hands-on project management role, not a controls engineering or controls lead position. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience running teams and managing large-scale automotive projects, preferably with exposure to German automotive processes and OEMs like BMW or Tesla.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex automotive BIW and General Assembly projects from initiation through completion, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to customer specifications. Oversee cross-functional teams, including controls engineers, mechanical engineers, and on-site technicians. Manage installation, integration, and commissioning of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on the plant floor. Coordinate the work of Siemens PLC programmers and robotic integration specialists; familiarity with additional PLC platforms is a plus. Serve as the primary customer liaison, ensuring high levels of communication, coordination, and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. Utilize virtual commissioning and simulation tools to support system testing and troubleshooting prior to on-site deployment. Apply deep knowledge of spot welding, adhesive bonding, MIG/MAG welding, and other BIW technologies to ensure process excellence. Lead project planning, resource management, scheduling, risk assessment, and issue resolution for multiple concurrent projects. Drive compliance with project management best practices and automotive quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, with recent, direct involvement in BIW or General Assembly projects. Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, vendors, and project stakeholders within a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical background in:
Hardware/Software design Controls and automation systems Pneumatic design Electrical installation PLC and Robot Programming (Siemens PLC preferred) Virtual commissioning tools and methodologies Working knowledge of BIW technologies such as spot welding, adhesives, and MIG/MAG welding processes. Solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with BMW, Tesla, or German automotive OEMs. Familiarity with additional PLC platforms and multi-vendor environments. Background in leading international teams and multi-site projects.
