Job Purpose:

The South Carolina Department of Education is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to oversee the implementation of the Agency’s financial transformation initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring financial projects align with Agency objectives and are delivered successfully. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, requirement gathering, organizational transformation, and change management, with a specific focus on financial system transformation projects.

Responsibilities:

Lead Financial Transformation Planning:

Develop detailed project plans that address the scope, risk, quality, cost, change management, communications, procurement, work breakdown structures, and schedules specifically for transformation initiatives.• Collaborate with

Project Sponsors:

Engage actively with finance project sponsors to create project charters, define strategic financial goals, and establish priorities that align with the South Carolina Department of Education’s mission.•

Manage Transformation Risk:

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies tailored to financial projects, ensuring their successful execution and adaptability.•

Drive Change Management Processes:

Lead change management efforts within finance departments, guiding teams through transitions that improve organizational efficiency and employee satisfaction.•

Ensure Thorough Project Documentation:

Oversee the creation and maintenance of essential financial project documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring clear communication and accountability.•

Implement Communication Strategies:

Create and implement communication plans to engage internal and external stakeholders, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration within financial projects.•

Define Project Scope and Requirements:

Perform detailed analyses to establish clear financial system project scopes and requirements, identifying the necessary resources and skill sets to meet strategic objectives.•

Facilitate Financial Project Adjustments:

Manage and recommend changes to project specifications in collaboration with sponsors, teams, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with evolving goals.•

Enhance Financial Project Management Expertise:

Continuously improve financial system project management skills by engaging in self-study, reviewing professional journals, and participating in industry forums to stay abreast of best practices.•

Promote Financial System Process Improvement:

Lead initiatives to refine delivery methodologies and related processes, contributing to the overall agility and effectiveness of financial operations.

This position is located in the Office of Implementation & Support.
