Job DescriptionThe purpose of this job is to direct environmental regulatory compliance activities associated with fuel system operations, discharge permits, water well systems, oil water separators, and wastewater treatment plants for company fuel systems and facilities. Direct staff that responds to environmental compliance related events including fuel release responses and remediationRespond to escalated compliance issues that arise from monthly class b operator visits, routine and emergency fuel systems testing, state inspections, and store operations observationsWork with Pilot team members and external contractors to control costs while maintaining compliance practices that ensure satisfaction of the requirements put forth by local, state, and federal regulationsMonitor and review all fuel system testing deadlines, tank registrations, permit deadlines, and Warren Rogers Associates exceptionsDetermine resources required to adequately manage company compliance requirementsMonitor emergency spill response practices of Environmental Project Managers to confirm compliance with state requirementsCollaborate with fuel services group to determine resolutions to fuel system repairs or upgrades are completed in a timely mannerManage operations related to potable water well and wastewater systems to ensure compliance and operating efficienciesCollaborate with Real Estate and Construction team members on the assessment of environmental liabilities for new propertiesWork with state agencies regarding operations related compliance issues to identify appropriate solutionsWork with environmental consultants to address known release remediation spend budgets to control long term environmental liabilitySupervise, direct, and develop the Environmental team membersUtilize fueling position flow data to evaluate necessity for fuel filter changes and/or tank cleaning frequenciesMonitor budgets and select services that are cost efficient and effectiveModel behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest levelEnsure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresComplete other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, or environmental science required; master’s degree in geology, engineering, or environmental science preferredClass A/B Fuel System Operator certification requiredMinimum seven years’ fuel system operations and compliance experience requiredMinimum seven years’ petroleum release remediation project management experience requiredLicensed or professional geologist or engineer preferredFuel systems operations experienceState and federal regulatory expertise related to fuel systems and petroleum release remediationIntermediate Microsoft Office skillsAbility to mediate between PFJ and state regulatorsStrategic insight to forecast industry and regulation changesAbility to maximize full compliance while maintaining the agreed upon budget to accomplish all tasks requiredAbility to multitask and manage multiple projects successfullyEffective leadership skillsAbility to build relationshipsAbility to negotiate and compromise with state and federal regulators to achieve compliance with ever changing regulationsStrong work ethicStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detailEffective problem solving and situation analysis skillsStrong organizational and follow-through skillsTravel required between 25 to 50%General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of timeStoop, bend, twist, and reachAdditional InformationNation-wide Medical Plan/Dental/VisionFlexible Spending AccountsWeekly pay401K matchTuition AssistanceAdoption AssistancePTOFuel Discount
