What you will do:

The Project Manager at Heartland is a key role within the Customer Delivery Organization and is responsible for delivering Heartland’s revenue associated with the current backlog. The Project Manager (PM) role’s chief responsibilities are to deliver the projects under management on time to contract dates and within the budget provided while achieving the target ‘as sold” margins. The PM will take ownership of the project after financial close, and a handover occurs between Business Development and the Project Management Organization (PMO). The PM will drive all functional disciplines (i.e. Engineering, Programming & Controls, Supply Chain) towards keeping their project-related duties on schedule and in line with project need dates via our tasking software (Wrike). These functions are accountable to the PM for their deliverables.

Responsibilities:

The PM is at the heart of our Customer Delivery Organization. They orchestrate all of the key activities related to the delivery of our infrastructure projects and keep the project on time and in budget while ensuring that all billing milestones are on target and able to be recognized as revenue. Manage multiple equipment design, build and installation projects Setting and maintaining project schedules and project budgets (including labor and materials,)to meet forecasted margins. Drafting and implementing changes orders as / if appropriate and agreed with the customer, with changes being defined as deviation from contract scope. Coordinating internal and external resources for project execution including providing regular weekly project status updates and working to contract milestones. Manage all project tasks in Wrike (software) and hold those functions and disciplines accountable for their project task dates, with no tasks ever past due. Work with Supply Chain to ensure all high dollar value POs for items such a general contractor scope and long lead items with key milestones / milestone billing dates are structured properly and agreed with Finance for cash flow and revenue recognition purposes. Identifying long lead time items and working with Supply Chain to ensure their timely ordering and delivery. Ensure that all billing milestones on the project are met and communicate any deviations or disruptions to management ahead of time. Functioning as the primary external customer contact on assigned projects, with focus on exemplary customer service and building win-win relationships based on trust. Evaluate Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for technical accuracy and completeness – stopping any change orders that are not necessary to fulfill contract scope. Assist in implementation of ECO / ECRs after they go through the approval process. Escalating project challenges to executive management as appropriate.

Skills and Experience:

A successful candidate will Mechanical engineering degree or other engineering degree with significant experience in mechanical design. Minimum 5-10 years job related experience preferably in wastewater, chemical, power, oil and gas, or other process industry. Experience with and understanding of basic project-based financials, as managing the financial health of the project is central to their responsibilities. Broad practical experience designing and working with industrial systems; possess solid equipment and system operational knowledge to enable effective collaboration in the design of detailed water treatment systems. Must be able to interpret technical drawings, product requirements, design specifications and relevant technical documents. Must have proficiency in MS Project and other MS Office software. Proficiency in Wrike is a nice to have. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, and must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Must be proactive in nature, a self-starter requiring minimal oversight. Must have a good mechanical aptitude, and an ability to multitask. Required interpersonal skills include good verbal and written abilities and he/she must work well with others. PMP certification via the PMI organization is highly desired.
