Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering to join our team as an Entry-Level Project Manager. This role is ideal for someone looking to kickstart their career in project management within the construction contractor industry. As a Project Manager, you will support the planning, execution, and delivery of automation/controls systems in commercial/independent environments, working closely with engineers, clients, and other contractors. You will receive mentorship and training to develop your skills in project management while applying your engineering knowledge to real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Support & Coordination:
Assist in the planning and coordination of automation projects, ensuring all necessary material and manpower are available to meet project goals and timelines. Work with senior project managers to break down complex projects into actionable tasks and deliverables. Help create project schedules and timelines, track progress, and ensure deadlines are met. Collaboration with
Engineering Teams and Contractors:
Work closely with engineering teams (including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers) to ensure specifications are met and material and manpower are allocated effectively. Assist in reviewing project specifications, designs, and reports to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction:
Support communication with co-workers and other contractors to ensure alignment on project goals, scope, and progress. Help prepare presentations and reports for client meetings, keeping all parties informed of project status, challenges, and solutions.
Risk & Issue Management:
Identify and control potential risks or issues that may affect project timelines or quality. Assist in resolving project challenges by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop solutions. Manage the installation of control systems
Billing:
Assist in tracking project costs and resource utilization, ensuring projects stay within budget. Help manage project documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and change requests. Project standards/
Specs, Industry/Code & Compliance Company Standards:
Ensure all aspects of the project are executed according to industry standards and company quality processes. Help monitor project deliverables to ensure they meet the required specifications and client expectations.
Documentation & Reporting:
Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation such as progress reports, schedules, and technical drawings. Help track and report on key project metrics such as cost, schedule, and quality.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Recent graduate or up to 1 year of experience in mechanical engineering, controls automation, or related fields. Exposure to project management methodologies (such as Agile or Waterfall) is a plus, but not required.
Skills:
Basic understanding of control systems, automation, and mechanical engineering principles. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, or similar) is a plus.
Preferred:
Internship or academic project experience related to controls automation, process automation, or system integration. Familiarity with control systems like PLCs, SCADA, or DCS. Any project management certification or training (e.g., PMP, CAPM) is a plus.
