PURPOSE OF POSITION
: The Philanthropic Officer is responsible for building and strengthening strategic partnerships with corporate, foundation, religious, and civic institutions to advance the mission of Covenant House Georgia. This role focuses on business development, corporate engagement, and relationship management, with the goal of securing funding, in-kind support, and long-term partnership commitments. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of cultivating six-figure partnerships, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a passion for connecting institutions to meaningful social impact. While this position collaborates closely with our grant writer to support the submission of grant applications and reports, it does not carry primary responsibility for grant writing or grant deadline management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Management & Business Development:
Identify, cultivate, and manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, religious, and civic partners to secure funding, in-kind gifts, and strategic engagement. Develop and execute engagement strategies, including sponsorships, cause marketing campaigns, employee giving initiatives, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activations. Negotiate and secure high-value support, creating partnerships that align with Covenant House Georgia’s mission, priorities, and revenue goals. Represents the organization at networking events, conferences, and community forums. Collaborate with executive leadership and board members to leverage networks and identify new opportunities for partnership. Stakeholder Engagement Serve as the primary relationship manager for key institutional partners, ensuring regular, meaningful engagement and stewardship. Coordinate closely with the grant writer to ensure timely, accurate, and strategic submissions to institutional funders. Partners with program teams aligning funding opportunities with current needs and priorities, providing narrative guidance and outcomes data when needed. Drive partners’ participation in and support of signature events, including Sleep Out and service days, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience. In partnership with the Volunteer Manager, design and implement volunteer opportunities and other engagement experiences that connect institutional partners with Covenant House Georgia’s mission. Work with the marketing and communications team to co-create tailored materials, storytelling, and recognition content for institutional audiences. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Growth Collaborate with development, volunteer, marketing, finance, and program teams to maximize the reach and depth of institutional partnerships. Track and manage partner activity using the organization’s CRM system (Every Action), ensuring accurate documentation and reporting. Monitor trends in corporate giving, CSR, and institutional philanthropy to inform strategy and maintain a competitive edge. Contribute to the development and execution of fundraising campaigns and proposals that integrate institutional funding and visibility.
Additional Responsibilities:
Upholds Covenant House Georgia standards of conduct, policies and procedures always. Models appropriate and professional behavior for staff to establish and maintain superior services to youth in a safe and inviting atmosphere. Ensures compliance with files in accordance with specific city, state, and Federal guidelines. Participates in other CHGA programs and activities as required. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, representatives of other agencies, and the public. Effectively communicates, verbally and in writing, with both internal and external individuals and/or businesses. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in corporate fundraising, business development, or institutional partnership management. Proven ability to cultivate and close six-figure institutional gifts or sponsorships. Knowledge of the Atlanta philanthropic and corporate landscape. Excellent relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Deep understanding of corporate giving trends, CSR strategy, and nonprofit fundraising best practices. Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and fundraising databases. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across departments and with external stakeholders. Passion for the mission of Covenant House Georgia and commitment to advancing equity and opportunity for youth experiencing homelessness. Work Environment & Expectations Hybrid work schedule available; occasional evening or weekend event support required. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where flexibility and adaptability are valued. Occasional local travel for meetings and events.
WORK/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Ability to work standing, walking, and/or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day/shift. The ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons. Valid Georgia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Ability to travel as needed for training or to fulfill job requirements. Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation. Must be able to see, hear, touch, feel, lift (up to 20 – 50 lbs.) and stand for short periods of time.
