This position requires residing on-site and involves managing facility maintenance, supporting student leadership, and fostering community engagement. The House Director works closely with chapter advisory board members, undergraduate members, alumni members, and university staff to maintain a productive environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of all that are welcomed to our chapter house.
Key Responsibilities House Management:
Ensure the overall maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the chapter house by coordinating repairs and addressing service needs with the House Corporation. Work with approved, licensed vendors to handle repairs and improvements, ensuring all work meets chapter and university standards. Maintain strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and fire regulations. Schedule and facilitate routine inspections conducted by local authorities and take corrective action as needed to address any violations or concerns cited. Manage and monitor primary budgets related to house operations. Track expenditures, forecast future needs, and ensure fiscal responsibility through strategic planning and efficient cost control measures. Directly supervise kitchen staff and maintenance personnel. Establish clear expectations, coordinate efficient workflows, and maintain a high standard of service across all roles. Ensure meal services run smoothly and meet members’ needs in collaboration with the kitchen staff. Oversee all seasonal opening and closing procedures including room inspections, key distribution and collection, damage assessments, and move-in/move-out coordination to ensure efficient and documented transitions. Perform light physical duties related to house management including lifting small objects and climbing stairs.
Member Support & Guidance:
Provide guidance on maintaining an inclusive and respectful living environment. Act as an approachable and trusted resource for members. Support members in resolving minor conflicts and maintaining fraternal relationships. Provide mentorship to members and support their academic, social, and personal well-being. Assist in planning and coordinating chapter sponsored events including philanthropy events, parents’ days, and alumni gatherings. Promote a safe environment throughout the chapter house and ensure security measures are in place.
Administrative & Communication Duties:
Maintain clear communication with chapter members, chapter advisory board members, kitchen staff, vendors, and university officials. Maintain organized and accurate records of house occupancy, various inventories, facility maintenance, vendor correspondence, and other house related operations. Identify and report potential member housing and conduct issues to chapter advisory boards.
External Representation & Participation:
Attend university and Greek Life events on occasion. Build positive relationships with collegiate members and foster a sense of community. Participate in chapter meetings, executive board meetings, and advisory board meetings as needed. Be available to assist with chapter emergencies and conflict resolution.
