NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans.

Full-Time Clinical Practice:
NHSC will pay up to $50,000
- for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians.
(Full-time clinical practice is defined as no less than 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 45 weeks per year). Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services; OR An advanced degree in a social sciences field, nursing, public health; public, hospital, or health administration; speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders; physical, occupational, recreational, or music therapy plus three years of experience in providing health or developmentally disabled services, counseling, health care management, or social services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Provides direct line supervision and management of Community Service Professionals and Community Services Assistant for the regional local governing entity in order to maintain appropriate delivery of statewide program elements in twelve (12) parish area. Conducts individual supervisory conferences, unit conferences, case review and consultation to enable appropriate planning and delivery of services in twelve (12) parish area. Reviews requests for services submitted by individuals and/or their family, private support coordinators, and others who are requesting assistance from
NEDHSA/OCDD
; plan and assig work to ensure even distribution of caseloads among social service staff and provide continuous review of caseloads to ensure services are being delivered according to policy. Provides assistance and oversight to Community Service Professionals with request from protective services agencies for recipients in immediate need of services. Participate in planning meetings with protective services agencies to address short term and long term goals. Enters data into the Participant Services Database (statewide DD services system database) when necessary for demographic information or for the supervised programs. Provides technical support, on the job training and assistance to Community Service Professionals as needed, including crisis situations; may accompany staff into court to represent agency and plan services in the judicial setting. Conducts case reviews to ensure that requests have been addressed appropriately in planning and evaluation by Community Service Professionals and that other available state and community resources have been explored. Completes internal monitoring of records to ensure compliance with programmatic policy and procedure. Conducts home visits as necessary to assess an individual’s and/or their family’s needs, and to identify service supports needed and to provide administrative oversight of Community Service Professionals’ actions and provide administrative consultation in difficult situations. Review packets for crisis placement referrals and referrals to the OCDD Community Support Team. Investigates complaints made by individuals/families regarding service delivery or service planning completed by Community Service Professionals Represent DD Director at his/her request or in his/her absence in meeting with government officials, in court appearance with judicial officials, or and in absence of Community Service Manager. May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency/disaster support activities.
Position-Specific Details:
This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. If filled as probational, applicants will be required to serve a probationary period of not less than 12 months and not more than 24. International degrees require submission of an equivalency evaluation with the application.
