Job Description
Community Center Supervisor City of Clinton (NC) Lane, NC JOB General Statement of DutiesPerforms responsible program development, implementation and supervision of community center programs. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Recreation ManagerDistinguishing Features of the Class Employee is responsible for oversight of a recreation center including providing programs that meet the needs of the community, and coordinating, and supervising activities with community agencies and groups. Duties include supervising the work of a part-time assistant and volunteers. Work may include coaching, organizing and coordinating special programs. Work involves cleaning and upkeep of the inside of the building and picking up trash on the center grounds and parking lot. Judgment, discretion and initiative are required. Extensive public contact is involved in facilitating and promoting recreation programs. Employee may be subject to OSHA regulations on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation and is evaluated by review of records and reports, in conferences, and by an appraisal of the general effectiveness of recreation activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and TasksAssists in the operation and supervision of the Sampson Recreation Center and Sampson Center Park.
Assists with planning, organizing, administering, coordinating and promoting multiple recreational or leisure programs and events for various age groups at Sampson Recreation Center.
Coordinates all aspects of program sign-up sheets, rules, policies and procedures, operating manuals, disciplinary procedure.
Creates and maintains facility calendarParticipate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Identify community needs and recommend appropriate programs related to the area of assignment.
Prepare periodic reports; maintain files and records.
Assists in the supervision of special events at Sampson Recreation Center and Sampson Center Park.
Coordinate Senior Games for the City of Clinton.
Assists with the preparation and administration of the recreation program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
Hires, trains and supervises part-time and seasonal staff.
Manages the scheduling for all part-time staff.
Ensures quality customer service.
Makes purchasing recommendations and submits requests for supplies to the Recreation Manager.
Assists in the coordinating of rentals at Sampon Recreation Center and Sampson Park.
Assists in the development of marketing and promotional items for programs.
Assists in the development of long-range plans for community center programming.
Participates and assists in evaluation and implementation of the City’s master plan.
Prepares reports and records related to the Programs Division.
Performs related duties as requiredKnowledge of principles, practices, and methods of programming for youth, adult and senior programs.
Ability to effectively plan, schedule, execute and evaluate year-round programs for youth, adults and seniors.
Ability to plan and coordinate the work of part-time employees.
Ability to express ideas effectively and communicate effectively in written and oral presentations. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, volunteers, employees, school personnel, citizens, and City departments/staff. Ability to interpret and explain polices rules, and procedures to participants, parents, and officials.
Possess proficiency in basic office software packages (MS Office).
