The ideal leader willhave the ability to build and leverage strong relationships acrossthe public, private, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors to ensurethe continued success of the Renaissance West community.

Familiarity with the West Boulevard Corridor in Charlotte isessential, along with strong listening skills to understand localneeds and the ability to connect the community with criticalresources to achieve its priorities and goals.

OrganizationOverviewFounded in 2013, Renaissance West Community Initiative(RWCI) was launched in response to a critical need to improveeconomic mobility and break the cycle of intergenerational povertyfor residents living on West Boulevard near the Billy GrahamParkway. RWCI serves 1300+ residents in the Renaissance and LittleRock Apartment neighborhoods, including 800+ students atRenaissance West STEAM Academy and the Howard Levine ChildDevelopment Center.

RWCI’s mission is to restore opportunity throughcomprehensive neighborhood revitalization and to advance thoseserved by concentrating resources on the West Boulevard Corridor, ageographic area that has historically experienced the severe impactof structural injustice and socio-economic disparities. RWCIcombines housing stability, and an educational continuum from 6weeks to college and career success, and coordinates the provisionof wraparound services to focus on multiple critical factors toensure children and families have the resources they need to besuccessful.

As a Purpose Built Communities member since 2013, RWCIis part of a national network that envisions an America where everyneighborhood serves as a pathway to prosperity and opportunity forthe people who call it home. Purpose Built Communities combines thebest practice, policy, and research in housing, education,community wellness, and economic vitality to help neighbors andlocal leaders deliver high-quality, sustainable neighborhoodtransformation for all. This approach makes it possible forresidents to experience improved health outcomes and increasedupward mobility in their neighborhoods.

The RoleThe Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO) of RWCI will be a visible local leader and a valuedstrategic partner, committed to advancing neighborhood empowermentin the Renaissance West community. The ideal leader will alignstaff, board members, and partners toward a shared vision whilefostering authentic and accountable relationships with keystakeholders, including neighborhood associations, countycommissioners, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, privateorganizations, and nonprofit partners. The CEO will be responsiblefor securing funding, managing and building partnerships, andensuring the successful implementation of housing, education, andwellness initiatives that directly support Renaissance Westresidents. A successful leader in this role will demonstrate deeplistening, community engagement, and strategic collaboration,ensuring that programs are well-resourced and responsive to theneeds of the neighborhood.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, theCEO will collaborate with both the board and staff to shape thefoundation’s next strategic direction while leading and supportingits talented team. Creates and implements long-term strategies thatencompass both current needs and future growth, with an overallgoal of ensuring the sustainability of RWCI’s work throughout theneighborhoods that it serves. The Executive Director will oversee ateam of 13 and have an annual budget of•$3 Million.

KeyResponsibilities:

Leadership & Vision Maintain alignment, involvement, and connection with thePurpose Built Communities national model and network ofsupport Develop and articulate a compelling vision for RWCI’s continuedgrowth and impact, ensuring alignment with the organization’smission and values Lead the strategic planning process, setting clear goals andpriorities to drive community revitalization and long-termsustainability Serve as the primary ambassador and advocate for RWCI,effectively communicating its mission, successes, and impact todiverse stakeholders and the public Inspire and empower a high-performing team, fostering a cultureof collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy,securing philanthropic, corporate, and public-sector support tosustain and expand RWCI’s programs and initiatives Cultivate and maintain relationships with key funders, donors,and community partners to strengthen financial sustainability Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grantsand public-private partnerships, to support RWCI’s mission andgrowth Represent RWCI in local, regional, and national conversationson community development, leveraging the Purpose Built Communitiesnetwork to advance best practicesCommunity & Stakeholder EngagementPartnerships Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure stronggovernance, strategic direction, and financial oversight Provide the Board with timely updates, reports, and insights tosupport informed decision-making Foster authentic engagement with the West Boulevard community,actively listening to residents and ensuring their voices shapeRWCI’s programs and priorities Build relationships with government officials, nonprofitleaders, and other stakeholders to advocate for policies andresources that support community revitalizationStrategy &Operational Efficiencies Oversee comprehensive community development and intentionalefforts to improve the lives of community residents and strengthencommunities. Oversee the organization’s financial health, ensuringresponsible budgeting, resource allocation, and financialsustainability Lead the development and implementation of operational policiesand procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness Strengthen internal systems to enhance program delivery, impactmeasurement, and organizational performance Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethicalstandards, maintaining transparency and accountability in alloperations Negotiating contracts, including the operating agreement forthe CDC and other key partnerships.

Candidates that exhibit the following qualities andexperiences are ideal for this role: Passion for supporting and empowering the children, families,and vibrant community at West Boulevard Corridor. Familiarity withthe RWCI community, and experience and existing relationships andnetworks based in Charlotte, highly desired 10+ years of progressive leadership and management skills,including excellent organization, project management, andtime-management skills, with attention to detail andfollow-through Proven fundraising experience with demonstrated success atdonor cultivation and stewardship, and grants procurement andmanagement of at least $2-3M in revenue generation Self-motivated and inspirational problem solver withdemonstrated ability to coach, manage, and develop high-performing,diverse teams to achieve strategic objectives Demonstrated success cultivating and sustaining partnershipsand collaborative relationships among diverse organizations andgroups at the statewide or community level including the citycouncil, the school board, the mayor’s office, etc. Demonstrated track record in providing leadership for thedevelopment and execution of strategic vision Demonstrated ability to establish priorities that align with astrategic plan and manage multiple agendas and partnerseffectively.
