Position supports schools in providing a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning. Employee performs complex work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Discipline & Behavior Support (SDBS). Salary/Status NC 19 Salary Non-Certified Schedule/Full-time, 11 months Reports To Executive Director, Student Discipline & Behavior Support Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Monitor for compliance, and provide technical assistance and behavioral consultation, related to Student Rights, Responsibilities and Character Development Handbook Provide data walkthroughs to enhance the learning experience for students Support and guide principals through complex discipline issues Recommend appropriate placement for students who have been through the triage process Assist School Performance Area Superintendents with analyzing student discipline issues and data impacting student achievement levels Make recommendations on support/discipline outcomes to the Executive Director of SDBS and Associate Superintendent of Student Services Connect schools and parents with resources to support students Collaborate to maintain the student rights and responsibilities handbook Coordinate and lead Problem Solving Team (PST) meetings for fair and equitable outcomes Prepare reports for the school board on matters relating to appeals and expulsions; compose and finalize Problem Solving Team (PST) decision letters Plan, facilitate and coordinate professional development that supports schools in restorative practices and school-based interventions Serve as a liaison with central office staff and collaborate in developing student-centered plans, while working with school-based and community partners Attend other related meetings or committees as needed/required Participate in professional development workshops and training Create an inclusive environment with positive communication Perform related work as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of student discipline, student behavior, management, and theory of practice Through knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of public schools Thorough knowledge of school board and administrator objectives, procedures, and organization Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies/regulations regarding student discipline and support Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions about trends in discipline Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations Ability to communicate effectively Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to develop related charts, graphs, reports, and records pertaining to school planning and strategy Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Demonstrated ability in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to produce expected improvements in student discipline results Education and Experience Master’s degree required Valid NC educational leadership or school administrator license required At least three years school-based educational leadership management required Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings # of Jobs 1.00
