Primary Job Responsibilities:
Provides supervision and management of the Front of House (FOH) operations in independent living restaurants to ensure quality dining experience for residents and guests. Sets an example, leads the morale of the dining room team, and maintains excellent relations with the residents. Assists the Manager of Restaurant Operations in managing the day-to-day operations of the FOH team to ensure all services are provided in accordance with the resident handbook and hospitality standards. Supervises all FOH team by regular inspections of work assignments, including but not limited to, server workstations, dining rooms, cocktail lounge, private dining, special events, and POS entries. Manages the physical appearance of the dining rooms, server workstations, cocktail lounge, and overall physical appearance and ambiance of dining areas, including but not limited to, tables, chairs, linens, place settings, floors, drapes, lighting, and music. Manges and posts FOH employee work schedules. Oversees server workstations and assignments for FOH team and ensures dress code and appearance standards are met. Utilizes POS system to record reservations, meal counts, and additional charges for residents. Participates in cost control measures and food and beverage inventory as needed. Communicates with residents in a timely manner regarding reservations, orders and meal charges, service or food issues, food allergies, or special dietary requests. Coordinates and communicates with the Director of Community Life Services or designee for various community functions, including buffet and beverage station set up and breakdown. Coordinates and communicates with Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and/or Director of Food & Beverage Services regarding any food issues, food allergies, or special dietary requests. Assists in expediting food orders from Back of House (BOH) to FOH. Assists Manager of Restaurant Operations in monitoring and evaluating work performance of FOH team through observations, reports, feedback, and outcomes; completes probationary and annual performance reviews; and identifies and presents coaching, correction, and other performance management opportunities to ensure success of department employees. Develops, implements, and maintains dining room service objectives and standard procedures. Assists Manager of Restaurant Operations in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training qualified department employees.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in hospitality and event management preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience or management experience in FOH operations in hotels, country clubs, or fine dining restaurants required.
- Knowledge of dining reservations, answering questions, understanding special requests, and maintaining overall appearance of dining rooms and server workstations
- Knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems
- TABC license required
- Must be able to lead, manage, and motivate FOH team members
