Description Summary:
Reports To:
The Vice President of Research and Economic Development, Supervisor. The Coordinator of Research and Economic Development plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth and development within a community or organization. This position involves a blend of research, strategic planning, and collaboration to foster business attraction, retention, and expansion. The job includes advising the Vice President of Research and Economic Development on issues/concerns that relates to the Division.
Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and Data Analysis:
Lead the development of quarterly research reports in partnership with directorates, organizations, faculty and Deans. Utilize economic data from multiple sources to provide insights into economic trends, demographic changes, and market opportunities. Maintain and improve the organizational database, ensuring that the data is accurate and concise. Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, summarizes accomplishments from all R.E.D. departments
Economic Development Planning:
Develop and implement short and long-term economic development plans, including business retention, attraction, and expansion strategies. Analyze existing economic conditions and recommend policies to stimulate commercial and industrial development. Conduct comprehensive planning and execution on a variety of projects relevant to R.E.D. Provide administrative support to the executive team as needed, such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing documents.
Business and Community Engagement:
Stay up to date on all tasks and projects. Coordinate and conduct public meetings and presentations to inform stakeholders about economic development initiatives. Collaborate with other divisions and departments to create partnership.
Program and Project Management:
Administer and manage economic development grant programs, ensuring alignment with community needs and organizational mission goals. Coordinate special projects, events, and marketing programs to promote economic growth and community engagement.
Policy Development and Compliance:
Monitor legislation related to economic development and recommend policy and procedural improvements. Prepare and evaluate contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all tasks. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Experience:
2-4 years of professional experience in economic development, research, or a related area. Contracting procedures and policies, interpreting policies and procedures that relates to contractual documents. Supporting an Executive Team. Provide the V.P. with clear and concise reports.
Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge is required to perform, administer and manage the needs of the R.E.D. mission. Proficient in writing reports to provide to the Vice President on status of requirements. Able to perform budget preparation for Division. Must have a strong knowledge of organizational skills.
Skills:
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, including Excel, Word, Power Point and Microsoft Office. Strong coordination and management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines. Ability to collaborate with other Divisions to create partnership.
Ability:
Required to schedule significant number of meetings and/or events. Ability to collaborate with outside entities in a professional manner. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals inside and outside of the University. Ability to travel to conduct business within the R.E.D. Division. Ability to set priorities based on deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
