Executive Director Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Programs, Strategy & Engagement at the Center for Inclusive Growth is responsible for representing the Center in the community, engaging stakeholders, and driving innovative solutions for inclusive economic growth in New Haven. This role involves strategic program development, project management, and supervision of staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the Center’s mission and values are effectively promoted and implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as the representative for the Center for Inclusive Growth at community meetings and events, fostering relationships and promoting the Center’s mission. Convene and lead groups of stakeholders to collaboratively address and find solutions to critical community challenges. Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement programs that promote inclusive and equitable economic growth. Attend a variety of New Haven public meetings; community Management team, service district, school committee meetings, and other meetings where the Center requires leadership representation. Assist the Executive Director in the operational management and strategic development of the Center’s programs. Continuously evaluate economic growth indicators in New Haven to identify areas requiring targeted focus and intervention. Design and implement innovative, equitable solutions that effectively address community problems and promote sustainable growth. Oversee center projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, overseeing execution, and delivering assigned outcomes. Provide supervision, coaching, and guidance to the project coordinator, including conducting regular weekly supervision sessions. Support the Executive Director in both operational and strategic aspects of the Center’s functioning, ensuring seamless integration of programs and outreach efforts.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the capacity to manage priorities across multiple stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and communicate with diverse audiences. Experience in writing clear and concise project summaries. Friendly, compassionate demeanor with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, donors, and community members. Strong negotiating skills with the capability to mediate conflicts effectively. Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans and objectives to drive the organization’s mission forward. Proficiency in analyzing data and using insights to inform program development and decision-making. In-depth understanding of the field in which the organization operates, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements for program management and outreach activities. Strong commitment to the organization’s mission and values, with a dedication to promoting inclusive economic and equitable growth. Proven ability to bring together diverse stakeholders from across socioeconomic divides to discuss sensitive issues and come to consensus, wherefrom meaningful change can occur. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively in a dynamic environment. Deep understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and principles, and the ability to integrate these into program activities.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Non-profit Management, Social Work, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred. Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Proven experience in managing and overseeing programs, which includes planning, implementation, and evaluation Demonstrated experience in both developing and executing outreach strategies to engage various stakeholders Experience in a leadership role and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively Experience with fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office setting but will travel outside the office for meetings with partners and stakeholders along with hosting outreach events in the community. This position can work a hybrid schedule with at least three days a week in the office. Typical work days in the office can include sitting, standing, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, driving, or climbing stairs. The employee in this position will likely not have exposure to clients with potentially communicable diseases. Per OSHA Standards, this position is classified as Category 2. This employee will not complete tasks routinely where they will be exposed to blood borne pathogens. About the Center for Inclusive Growth Born from a partnership between the City of New Haven and Yale University, the Center for Inclusive Growth (CIG) operates as an independent organization. Its mission is to promote inclusive economic growth in New Haven. To achieve this, CIG collaborates with community members, government officials, and other key stakeholders to develop programs that address economic disparities.
