2025-2026 Coordinator, Government Relations 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 2855 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33966 The School District of Lee County is currently seeking a full-time 2025-2026 Coordinator, Government Relations who will coordinate the planning and execution of the School Board’s legislative platform and strategically engage government officials, families, staff, and the community on issues related to the Office of Government Relations. Reports to the Chief, Communications and Government Relations Officer or Designated Administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, political science government, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience working with local and/or state government officials on legislative issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, political science, government, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience working with local and/or state government officials on legislative issues. Experience as a legislative liaison for an elected official. Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists in the planning, organization, and communication of the School Board’s Legislative Priorities. Recruits and mobilizes employees, families, and community members to support the School Board’s Legislative Priorities and District initiatives. Provides information requested by government officials, the Superintendent, and/or staff regarding the School Board’s Legislative Priorities and other matters pertaining to the Office of Government Relations. Assists the Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer with the development of legislative reports and presentations, tracks legislation, and follows state legislative sessions and congressional hearings and press conferences. Serves as a member of the lobbying team representing the School Board and the District in the Florida Legislature and travels to Tallahassee during the Legislative session. Testifies on behalf of the District at governmental meetings. Develops publications and presentations regarding information related to government relations, such as legislative updates and summaries, newsletters, press releases, and other correspondence. Maintains positive relationships with business leaders, community members, parents/guardians, governmental agencies, and staff. Serves a point of contact for local governmental entities. Works with public officials and their staff to resolve constituent concerns and/or develops proposals for legislation to address mutual concerns. Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding the School Board’s Legislative Priorities and District initiatives using a variety of communication methods, including but not limited to, publications/reports, meetings, email, social media, and the District’s webpage. Performs other duties, as assigned.
