The City of Port Richey, Florida, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Interim City Manager during a transitional period of leadership. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic direction and operational oversight for a vibrant Gulf Coast community committed to progress and service excellence.

About Port Richey:

Located along the beautiful Pithlachascotee River and minutes from the Gulf of America, Port Richey is a close-knit community with a rich history, scenic charm, and a renewed focus on redevelopment and economic vitality. The city was officially incorporated in 1925 and currently has a population of 3,485. The City’s approximate general fund budget is $8,000,000 and has a staff of about seventy employees. Six public parks vary in size and provide a variety of amenities to the public. The city has a water plant that provides water service, vegetative brush collection for citizens, and city-staffed police and fire departments. The City Council / CRA Board consists of five members, and several boards and committees meet regularly. City Hall is located at 6333 Ridge Rd. Port Richey, Florida 34668.

Position Overview:

The Interim City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer, overseeing the city’s day-to-day operations, including budgeting, personnel management, and departmental coordination. This individual will work closely with the City Council, department heads, and the public to ensure continuity of services and support key city priorities. About seventy employees provide police, fire, building, public works, administrative, and water/sewer utilities services.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage city operations in accordance with local ordinances and Florida statutes. Having a solid understanding of sound financial practices and principles is imperative. Lead and support city staff and departments. Advise and collaborate with the City Council on policy and administrative matters. Maintain transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the community. Facilitate ongoing initiatives and ensure smooth transition to permanent leadership.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government management. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with Florida’s Sunshine Laws, budgeting processes, and local governance.
