Salary:
Commensurate with experience The Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office is seeking a compassionate, professional, and service-oriented Victim Witness Advocate to join our team in our Springfield, Georgia office. This critical position provides direct support to victims and witnesses of crime, guiding them through the emotional and procedural challenges of the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to: Assisting victims in preparing victim impact statements. Providing information on available community and legal resources. Educating victims about their rights under Georgia’s Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights and Marsy’s Law. Notifying victims and witnesses of upcoming court dates and explaining the purpose of each proceeding. Offering crisis intervention and emotional support as needed. Accompanying victims to court and providing routine legal and emotional support. Collaborating with prosecutors, law enforcement, and community service providers to ensure comprehensive victim services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required , preferably in psychology, criminal justice, sociology, or a closely related field . Valid Georgia Driver’s License Successful completion of a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of experience in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or related fields involving trauma, violence prevention, or safety planning. Certification in victim advocacy (preferred certifications include any level of National Advocate Credentialing, Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia Victim Advocacy Certification—Basic or Advanced, or a Victim Advocacy Certificate from the University of Georgia or University of West Georgia). Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to public service.
