As we continue to expand our impact, we are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Programs and Economic Mobility to lead our efforts in this critical area.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Economic Empowerment will be responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive set of programs and strategies aimed at fostering economic mobility and empowerment for individuals with criminal justice involvement. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Program Development and Management:

Oversee Economic Mobility Programs to ensure they coincide with all grant guidelines and program goals, including: Maintaining the Ben Smith Cooking School program NBA Economic Mobility Program for Youth ages 18-30 Any future grant programming centered around Economic Mobility and Workforce Development Financial literacy: Design, lead, and maintain mandatory financial literacy training sessions for clients, focusing on budgeting, credit building, debt reduction, and long-term mobility Complete an initial economic empowerment assessment for all housing clients and any clients who opt in for financial literacy one-on-ones. Clients must complete this assessment before receiving one-on-one financial literacy support. Ensure all clients who receive an initial assessment also complete a follow-up assessment, conducted by the Director of Economic Empowerment. Provide ongoing one-on-one financial literacy support to clients, helping them set goals, track progress, and ensure accurate data reporting. Schedule and conduct follow-up appointments with clients to ensure milestones are being met and address any challenges as they arise. 2.

Employer Partnerships and Job Placement:

Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, training providers, and city agencies to create job and career pathways for program participants. Connect clients directly to employment opportunities through these partnerships, prioritizing long-term job placement and upward mobility. Build an ongoing and up-to-date list of current partnerships and relevant job openings. Advocate for fair chance hiring by engaging local employers. This can also include participating in public education efforts, attending City Council meetings, serving on advisory committees, and supporting other advocacy opportunities as they arise. 3.

Data, Engagement and Evaluation:

Ensure metrics are efficiently tracked within case management data systems to measure program outcomes and impact. Regularly assess program effectiveness and make data-informed improvements alongside leadership and staff. Engage directly with program participants to understand their needs and experiences, incorporating their feedback into program operations. 4.

General:

Attend all staff meetings Be in regular communication with the case management team to best support clients, attend weekly case conferencing Host department Economic Empowerment meetings Take on supervision if needed of possible interns and facilitate growth experiences for them to learn about economic empowerment within the nonprofit sector Use data and communication tools such as Charity Tracker, Google Calendar, Gmail, Levitate, GroupMe, and other organizational systemsLevitate, Groupme, and other online organizational systems

SCHEDULE

In person, Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. Evenings and/or weekends occasionally as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or comparable experience)

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of experience in program management and leadership, preferably within the criminal justice or social justice sector. Individuals with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION
