Executive Director of Programs Sacred Heart Southern Missions 6050 Highway 161, Walls, MS 38680 Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director of Programs to lead our organization towards achieving its mission and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior leadership, operations management, and business development. This role requires a visionary leader who can effectively manage resources, drive process improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of excellence within the organization. General Summary As a member of senior management, the Executive Director of Programs is responsible for providing effective management and direction for Sacred Heart Southern Missions (SHSM) programs: education, housing, and social services. Responsibilities The Executive Director of Programs provides administrative oversight, strategic direction and planning, leadership and support for all the aforementioned programs, within the mission, vision, and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions. With presently six (6) direct reports, the Executive Director of Programs serves the following areas: Social Services, Housing and Education.

Social Services and Housing:

Provides direction to and evaluation of all social services and housing programs. Plans, organizes, and directs sound policies and procedures in providing social service assistance in six (6) social offices, housing development, Thrift Store, Volunteer Program and Food Pantry operations. Ensures appropriate supervision of staff and effective organizational structure for staff, including: a) efficient work flow patterns, b) clear delineation of duties and responsibilities, c) appropriate staffing levels, and d) regularly scheduled meetings of all SHSM program social services and housing staff to provide vehicle for interdepartmental communication and group planning. Evaluates the effectiveness of each social service and/or housing program as it relates to the needs of the SHSM service area. Directs all housing activities and facilitates effective linkages between housing and social service staff. Evaluates the impact of potential housing decisions on other SHSM programs. Attends all meetings of the SHSM Housing Corporation Board.

Education:

Provides oversight to principals. All curriculum matters are overseen by Diocesan Superintendent of Schools. Ensures that the mandates of the Diocese of Jackson and the State of Mississippi are followed. Provides strategic direction in the planning and/or establishment of new programs or changes in existing programs. Orients, directs, and supports SHSM school advisory boards and committees; participates as a non-voting member. Evaluates the effectiveness of each program in collaboration with educational personnel, school advisory boards, and committees. Conducts regular on-site visits of all educational programs. Promotes open communication with educational personnel, students, and parents.

All Program Management Functions:

Recruits, hires, and terminates all program employees in consultation with the Director of Administration and with the consent of the President & CEO. Supervises the leaders of the social service offices, schools, housing development, volunteer program and food pantry program. Guides in the development of strategic plans for all programs. Helps to develop and then monitors the annual budgets; identifies potential funding sources; oversees the administration of any grants received. Maintains appropriate levels of communication, formal and informal, with program personnel; provides mediation and assistance in resolving problems within programs, between programs and external to the organization, should such problems arise. Participates in all SHSM management meetings, in-service days, committee work, and other meetings as scheduled by the Executive Director. Prepares reports for meetings of the SHSM corporate Board of Directors; attends Board meetings. Communicates directives and information from SHSM management and the corporate Board of Directors. Performs other duties as requested. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Understands the vision and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions with a commitment to achieving the goals of the organization. Understands Catholic Social Teaching and is comfortable working in a faith-based organization. Master’s Degree required from an accredited institution with 8-10 experience in a senior leadership role. Possesses excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication and decision-making skills. Demonstrates experience in the evaluation and analysis of program effectiveness. Demonstrates experience in the development and implementation of program models and budget management. Is proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision/instruction. Has the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Has a valid driver’s license. Working Conditions Normal business hours, however, this position does entail some evening and weekend work. Occasional travel to meetings is necessary as is travel throughout the five-county area to the schools, the housing office, and the social services locations. General office setting. Significant time is required sitting at a computer. High degree of repetitive motion of fingers and wrists. Some moderate lifting up to forty pounds may be necessary but these may be accommodated by assistance from other staff members. Reasonable Accommodations To successfully accomplish the essential job functions of the position, the employee must be able to read, write and speak in English, operate a computer and travel throughout a five-county area. Some lifting requirements may be accommodated by assistance from other staff members; repetitive wrist motion cannot be accommodated.
