Director of Public Works City of Picayune 203 Goodyear Boulevard, Picayune, MS 39466 Job Summary The Director of Public Works is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of public infrastructure and services within the community. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a background in engineering, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders. Responsibilities Lead and manage the Public Works Department, including staff supervision, project management, and budget oversight. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency in public works operations. Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and utilities. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure cohesive planning and execution of public works initiatives. Conduct regular assessments of infrastructure needs and prioritize projects accordingly. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to public works. Prepare reports and presentations for city officials and community stakeholders regarding project status and departmental activities. Utilize advanced engineering software (such as CAD and MicroStation) for project design and schematics. Skills Proficiency in debugging complex systems to identify issues effectively.
