open ONLY for current employees of the NC Department of Adult Correction and eligible RIF candidates from NC State Government.•Reporting to the Correctional Associate Warden of Custody & Operations at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is responsible for first line supervision of Correctional Housing Unit Manager I’s. This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assuming responsibility for the overall management of the correctional housing unit. Providing leadership and guidance to subordinate staff and ensuring staff are alert, properly trained, informed and prepared to perform their job responsibilities under a variety of conditions. Coordinating work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
Managing the facility on occasion of being the highest-ranking custody staff on the premises or the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
Maintaining facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with governing regulations and standards relating to facility maintenance, health, and safety of offenders. Communicating effective instruction/direction during drills, searches, and in emergencies situations. Responding to emergency situations such as: distress codes, escapes, and transportation of offenders.
Conducting and/or supervising searches of offenders, offender living areas and work areas for contraband. Investigating and taking action when appropriate regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints. Preparing, reviewing reports and completing performance evaluations on subordinate staff. Serving on a variety of institutional committees. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need. As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. About Anson Correctional Institution:

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in close and medium custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.
