Housing Compliance Officer City of Raleigh North Carolina – 4.0 Fayetteville, NC Job Details Full-time $45,245 – $73,150 a year 1 day ago Qualifications 2 years Entry level Full Job Description JOB This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a great team, working for the City of Raleigh, Housing & Neighborhoods Department, Code Enforcement Division. The Code Enforcement Division is tasked with enforcement of the City of Raleigh’s Health, Sanitation and Public Nuisance Code, the Minimum Housing Code in the Unified Development Ordinance as well as zoning vehicle codes. Staff inspect properties to ensure minimum standards are met, perform property ownership research, initiate code enforcement cases, and confer with property owners and contractors. This is an entry position, first level of five level Housing Code Compliance Series. The Code Enforcement Division is committed to improving and maintaining the quality of life and enforcement for all the City of Raleigh residents. Working with citizens, the division strives to ensure that the City of Raleigh continues to be a safe, more attractive place to live, work and play through the enforcement of City Codes.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Inspects properties for compliance with local codes, calling, scheduling inspections and follow ups as well as case processing. Staff can inspect new and existing building structures to ensure conformance with minimum housing and building codes, and public nuisance and zoning codes pertaining to vehiclesInterprets state codes and city ordinances to determine compliance; issues violation notices for non-complianceEnforces adopted codes ensuring that minimum standards of health, safety and environmental welfare for the general public are adhered toPerforms property and ownership research related to code enforcement cases. Establishes contact with property owners and/or professional organizations and other representatives of propertiesGathers information and compiles periodic inspection reports. Facilitates hearings, establishes timelines for corrective actions, and confers with property owners, contractors, property managers, attorneys and governmental agencies regarding code-related actionsPrepares, updates and maintains code enforcement case files. Organizes and maintains electronic and paper files and related documentation

ADA and Other Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work.

Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
