The ideal candidate has a proven history of creating and guiding teams, mentoring community organizers to achieve high goals in-person and in virtual spaces, and remaining flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced and rapidly changing election landscape. The Director will manage the field staff, including five current staff and the recruitment and management of volunteers across NC. Our ideal candidate will reside in the Triad or Triangle, and is excited to travel to conduct events and staff meetings. The Director must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for organizing people and excel in organizational, communication, and project management skills. This position will be supervised by YCV’s Deputy Director.

The Director of Organizing will:

Recruit, train and manage field teams to ensure their success in carrying out nonpartisan YCV programs in accordance with YCV practices and protocols. Build out creative and effective field strategies and help the team to pivot as strategies need to change or respond to new information. Lead the development of tracking systems and protocols that can be successfully implemented across YCV programs and regions, using new or current technologies. Offer continuous improvement and regular training to ensure all staff have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively, including hiring, issue reporting, and onboarding. The Director will oversee data analyses and visualization projects that articulate voter turnout and forecasting, YCV results, and explain trends and strategies to a variety of stakeholders using the voter file. Collaborate and communicate confidently on the Executive Leadership team to ensure all departments are in alignment to support the quality and capacity of field operations. Create and oversee a comprehensive relational organizing program and work with regional directors to structure distributed relational organizing programs. Work collaboratively with strategic partners, external data vendors, and coalition partners. Qualifications

REQUIRED A

minimum of six years of organizing, nonprofit, project management, or government experience and a minimum three years of staff management experience. Standout candidates will have at least two federal cycles of work on a statewide electoral, voter education, or voter registration campaign. Proficient with data, latest technologies, and best practices in the field and the ability to learn various systems for data tracking, email, mobile, volunteer recruitment. Experience with, and proven ability in managing teams, supporting strong morale, developing staff and providing clear feedback and supervision. Has developed, written, and executed successful field campaign plans that demonstrate strategic focus and creativity. Strong sense of ownership and resilience with respect to planning ahead, finding alternative paths when needed, and bouncing back from setbacks and rejections. Respect for local organizations and election officials, and appreciation of the nonpartisan coalition space, established partnerships, and demonstrated competency in relationship building. Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, preferably in campaign settings. Experience managing strong volunteer engagement programs. Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills, and attention to details. Proficient in Every Action, Google Suites or Microsoft Office with emphasis on using Excel, PowerPoint, Google Slides and Google Sheets. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and able to travel as needed. Willingness to work long hours as necessary – balancing our team’s strong commitment to both work life balance and grassroots mobilizing that by necessity happens on nights and weekends.

PREFERRED

Strong understanding of national and state political and electoral landscape and how best to make strategic impact at scale. Familiarity with voting rights policy, especially NC election administration laws, rules, and election implementation systems. Experience in a coalition setting. Stand-out candidates will have base-building and coalition experience, including building consensus and championing a shared vision. Public Speaking, teambuilding, leading interactive meetings on Zoom or in-person, Collaborative spirit, high energy, and enthusiasm. No task is too small, you are a team player willing to roll up your sleeves! Comfort with designing presentations in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Canva. Bilingual in English and Spanish

LOCATION

Triangle or Triad region, hybrid work settings, travel among YCV regions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range:

$75-85K based on experience This is a full-time salaried position following a successful three-month contract period. This position requires travel within North Carolina. The schedule is flexible but does include nights and weekends due to the nature of the work. You Can Vote values flexibility while achieving positive outcomes for voter education and turnout.
