Position Overview:

Financial Assistance Manager Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Financial Assistance Manager is responsible for direct supervision of 2-3 employees engaged in, and assisting them with, reviewing financial assistance requests, including confirming the required back-up documentation, preparing requests to generate payments, and assisting with any and all tasks to ensure the successful operation of housing-related financial assistance programs. The Financial Assistance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the distribution of financial assistance adheres to the varying rules and documentation requirements of the specific funding sources that are used. Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities include staying abreast of Housing Collaborative’s programs and funding sources; and constant interaction with colleagues, clients, vendors, property providers, and funders. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to the following: Maintain a thorough knowledge of Housing Collaborative’s service areas and funding source requirements; Effectively manage and monitor daily operation of a financial assistance team; Supervise and coach direct reports, providing access to the information and training necessary to perform their job responsibilities; Review payment requests and back-up documentation, asking for clarification and additional documentation as needed; Review and submit daily Accounts Payable request spreadsheets; Monitor monthly rent and utility assistance obligations in order to ensure the team submits accurate, recurring monthly payment requests; Ensure team’s timely upload of payment information into agency system of record; Support compliance and data integrity by ensuring information on payments, payment records, and related back-up documentation are aligned, and that payment-related files are named clearly and uploaded in Housing Collaborative’s data system; Accountability to performance goals and measures as outlined in an annual workplan; and Maintain respectful, professional working relationships with partner agencies, housing providers, services providers, tenants, funders, and colleagues. Qualifications To excel in this position, the candidate should offer: At least two years of experience operating government-funded financial assistance programs; Undergraduate degree preferred, but additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; Clear and empathetic written and verbal communication that demonstrates quality customer service and attention to detail; Productive time management skills; Willingness to collaborate with coworkers, partner agencies, and customers; A commitment to second chances, and to the mission and vision of Housing Collaborative. Hours This is a salaried position that is expected to complete 40 hours of work per week, typically within the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Remote, hybrid and flexible schedules may be available at the discretion of organizational leadership, dependent upon nature of position and job performance; however, trainings, meetings, and team-building opportunities are regularly scheduled to occur in-person for all staff. A paid 30-minute minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks are provided.
