Deputy Chief of Administration:
The Deputy Chief of Administration is a senior level professional position, supporting the efficient and effective operations of the Administration Section within North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM). The Assistant Director for Administration (Admin Chief), and the Deputy work together collaboratively to direct and coordinate teams of professional staff across independent functional areas: Accounts Payable, Budget, Compliance, Human Resources, Grants Management, Information Technology, Application Development & Geospatial Information Systems and the Responder Assistance Initiative. This position operates with the delegated authority of the Assistant Director for Administration and exercises independent judgement to direct section activities and provide guidance to management and division staff, as appropriate. In addition to working closely with the Admin Chief on day-to-day management of the section, this position will be assigned specific projects and functional areas for ongoing oversight and management. The selected candidate will work with the Admin Chief on initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness in all areas of section operations, and the Division at large. In the absences of the Admin Chief, the Deputy Chief of Administration will lead the section and represent the Chief at meetings/briefings or as needed. Position may be required to work extended hours, overnights, weekend and/or holidays when the State Emergency Response Team is activated for a disaster. About the

The mission of North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) is to enhance North Carolina’s resiliency through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of efficient and effective preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation of all natural and man-made hazards and threats. It is part of the NC Department of Public Safety (NC DPS). The primary mission of the Administration Section is to provide effective and efficient support functions for the Division and external clients.
