Description of Work The Director of Field Services reports to the Deputy Secretary of Community Supervision and is responsible for statewide development, implementation, analysis, and on-going evaluation of field operations and offender supervision, special operations, quality assurance, and strategic planning. The Director of Field Services will provide guidance for the Division Data Analysts as it pertains to operations within the section. Position provides oversight and consultation related to a wide variety of policies pertaining to offender supervision, officer safety, public safety, program services, special operations. This position oversees the implementation and use of evidence-based practices and justice reinvestment as it pertains to the Division of Community Supervision and represents DCS as needed with participation in various committees and at meetings. The Director of Field Services ensures consistency and accountability of field operations through performance analysis, operational data reviews and operational audits. The person in this position will provide significant input and guidance to the Deputy Secretary in the executive decision-making process and will assist in various areas such as position management, system enhancements, field specialists’ direction as it relates to officer training, EBP development, justice reinvestment deployment, and policy updates. The duties of the Director of Field Services may also include the following:
Providing leadership, management, and direction to senior level managers as it relates to developing and maintaining their sections
Furnishing support to the Deputy Secretary as it relates to evaluation and planning of new initiatives, technology trends, training, and policy
Giving direction for field operations and reviewing goals and work progress of the members of the management team
Analyzing department results, identifying areas of need and providing recommendations to the Deputy Secretary on how to improve results and service delivery
Representing the Deputy Secretary in high level meetings and assisting him/her in fulfilling the various public relations responsibilities of the agency
Reviewing reports regarding caseloads and resources to determine if position management is being successfully handled
Responding to inquiries from internal and external parties such as the governor’s office, general assembly staff, legislators, judges, DAC secretary’s office, and management The Director of Field Services may act on behalf of the Deputy Secretary in their absence for matters within the scope of this position, and will work closely as a part of the senior leadership team with the Director of Program Services and the Director of Administrative Services.. This position description is not all-inclusive and supervisor may delegate and assign other duties to position as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Human Services, or related work from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience as a consultative Senior Division of Community Supervision Program Administrator or two years of experience as a Judicial District Manager or higher; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
